MAJOR traffic restrictions will take place in the Ranelagh area of Dublin today during the demolition of a dangerous building.

A Garda spokesman said the demolition would cause "massive disruption" to traffic in the Ranelagh and Rathmines area until at least midday today. Charleston Road and Oakley Road in Ranelagh will be "completely sealed off" and the 18 bus will have to be re routed.

Part of the three storey building at 51 Oakley Road is due to be demolished at around six o'clock this morning. The building housed nine separate businesses including a newsagents and an estate agents on the ground floor, a beauty salon, a landscape gardening business and a public relations consultancy.
