The Department of Education has moved ahead with its contingency plans to ensure the Leaving and Junior Certificate exams go ahead.
Advertisements have been published in national newspapers today inviting the public to apply to act as supervisors for the exams which are due to begin in June.
Teachers who have already applied and who, according to the Department, are prepared to work within the contingency arrangements are asked to apply again.
The advert sets out the supervisor's main duties, which include setting up the exam centres, handing out question papers and answer books and marking the attendance roll.
The Department has promised that full training and instruction will be given to the successful applicants.
Advertisements for examiners will be published shortly.
The second phase of the ASTI's dispute begins tomorrow with a two-day stoppage.
