A man from Waterside, Derry, appeared before the city's Magistrates Court yesterday charged with attempting to murder a man who was shot during a gun attack on a bar last month.
Mr James Edward Taylor (38), a painter-decorator, from Lincoln Courts, was remanded in custody to appear before the same court via a video link on October 28th. He is charged with the attempted murder of Mr Robert Hutchinson at the Cosy Inn on September 18th.
He was further charged with possessing and making six blast bombs and three incendiary blast bombs between a date unknown and September 29th; possessing two pipe bombs between September 10th and September 29th; possessing a .45 semi-automatic pistol and a quantity of ammunition between September 10th and September 29th; the possession of, between a date unknown and September 29th, disposable gloves, disposable boiler suits, three balaclavas and two gun holsters on suspicion that they could be used for terrorists offences; and with possessing the details of a car and the records about a member of the public between January 1st and September 29th.
A detective sergeant said that when he charged Mr Taylor with the offences at Antrim police station on Sunday, he replied "no".
