Racing:Frankie Dettori gave Europe the perfect start to day two of Breeders' Cup meeting by winning the opening Juvenile Turf on John Gosden's Pounced.
The Italian sent his mount, the 3-1 favourite, through a gap on the inside to take it up a furlong from home.
And from there on in the son of Rahy was never going to be passed as Gosden took the race for the second consecutive year after Donativum scored in 2008.
Bridgetown at 15-2 took second spot after making a gallant surge for home from the top of the stretch, while Interactif (4-1) was third.
Jeremy Noseda's Awesome Act finished really well down the centre of the track from way back to take fourth under Ryan Moore.
Aidan O'Brien's Viscount Nelson fell out of the stalls under Johnny Murtagh and was never really in a position to threaten the leaders.
California Flag made every yard of the running under Joe Talamo to run out a hugely impressive winner of the Turf Sprint.
Brian Koriner's grey, sent off the 9-2 favourite, shot out of the stalls and always appeared to be travelling strongly at the head of affairs.
The race was over as a contest when California Flag crossed the all-weather strip and he only had to be kept up to his work to beat Gotta Have Her (10-1), who finished fast to claim the runner-up spot. Cannonball at 7-1 picked up minor honours in third.
