The head of the Railway Procurement Agency has said a construction company is delaying the proposed extension of the Luas Green Line.

The head of the Railway Procurement Agency has said a construction company is delaying the proposed extension of the Luas Green Line.

Speaking to RTÉ radio this morning Mr Allen said he had hoped to submit the plans for approval to the Department of Transport but had been delayed by the construction company had yet to sign up to the project.

The Irish Timesestablished in June that the Railway Procurement Agency (RPA) was not ready to apply for a railway order then as a significant number of private developers who are required to fund the public-private partnership had not signed up.

At the time, Minister for Transport Martin Cullen said that he would approve a public inquiry into a Cherrywood extension of Luas "within seconds" of it being placed in front of him.

Meanwhile, the Luas Red Line celebrated its first year in operation today. The route runs from Connolly Station to Tallaght.
