An Irish artist living in England is expected to raise more than £100,000 from sales of copies of a portrait of the late Diana, Princess of Wales. Mr Peter Deighan (55), a former employee at the Vauxhall plant in Luton, received widespread recognition in 1994 when his portrait of former British prime minister Mr John Major was unveiled at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
All proceeds from sales of a planned more than 3,000 prints of the Princess Diana portrait will go to the charities the princess had supported, Mr Deighan said yesterday.
