Irish broadband provider Digiweb has won a licence to provide mobile wideband services in Norway.
Mobile wideband, or WCDMA, is a type of 3G mobile network that supports fast data transmission speeds and multimedia services such as video conferencing and wireless internet acccess.
Charl Tintinger, head of wireless networks at Digiweb , described the move as a "natural progression" for Digiweb.
The company has also secured a similar licence in Ireland, and claims the technology could provide a broadband service with 100 per cent geographic coverage here. The first phase of the Irish network is due to be launched shortly.
