SIPTU has welcomed the report of the Commission on the Status of People with Disabilities and has set up a working group to help implement its recommendations. A spokesman said the report was the first comprehensive analysis of the subject completed by an EU government and was an important landmark in recognising the rights of people with disabilities.
The recommendation that EU treaties and Irish legislation include specific anti discrimination measures should be implemented as a priority, the union said.
