A disc jockey at the Killiney Castle Hotel has been jailed for a year for selling ecstasy. Alan Doherty had 71 ecstasy tablets in his pockets when gardai raided Jester's disco in the hotel. They later found a small amount of cannabis at his home.
Judge Elizabeth Dunne, in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, said it was clear that he had been selling drugs for a significant period. Doherty (28), of Montpellier Parade, Monkstown, pleaded guilty to possession of ecstasy with intent to supply in 1999.
Defence counsel, Ms Marie Torrens, said Doherty's girlfriend was pregnant at the time and he had intended to sell ecstasy only until the baby was born.
