SDLP leader, Mr Mark Durkan, has launched a campaign to have two Scots Guards who shot dead a Catholic teenager discharged from the British army.
Mark Wright and James Fisher each served six years of a life sentence for the murder of Mr Peter McBride who was shot in the back in Belfast 10 years ago.
Both men were allowed to remain in the British army when they were given early release four years ago.
Mr Durkan has written to political leaders on both sides of the Border asking them to support his campaign.
Severely injured man found on street
A man was brought to St James's Hospital in Dublin early yesterday morning after he was found lying on a street with severe head injuries.
The man was discovered lying on the footpath at Cromwellsfort Road, in Walkinstown, at 2.30 a.m.
It is not clear whether his injuries were the result of an assault or an accident.
His injuries are not life threatening, the hospital said.
Gardaí in Crumlin are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
New general of Air Corps is named
A 46-year-old Dubliner has been appointed general officer commanding of the Air Corps. Col Ralph James succeeds Brig Gen John O'Brien, who retired recently.
An operational pilot and flight instructor, Col James joined the Defence Forces in 1973 and most recently served as chief of air staff operations and second-in-command of the Air Corps.
In taking up his new position, he has also been promoted to brigadier general. He lives in Kildare with his wife, Geraldine, and their four children.
Gardai seek help in missing man search
Gardaí are seeking assistance in tracing the whereabouts of Mr Brian Simpson (48), from Sherwood Park, Mullingar, Co Westmeath.
He was last seen in Mullingar at 2.45 a.m. on Saturday. He is described as 6 feet 2 inches, of strong build with short brown hair and blue eyes.
He is originally from Enniskillen and has a Northern accent. When last seen he was wearing a purple polo shirt, blue jeans and tan-coloured desert boots.
