A man who was dismissed as general manager of the Shannon Great Southern Hotel has been given a decree for £31,752 by the High Court.
Mr Justice McCracken also said yesterday credit must be given for all monies paid to Mr Patrick Dooley since the termination of his contract.
Mr Dooley, of Newmarket-on-Fergus, Co Clare, had sued Great Southern Hotels Ltd over his purported dismissal in a letter dated February 20th.
After Mr Justice McCracken had given his judgment, Mr Roddy Horan, for the company, said Mr Dooley was still on the payroll and had suffered no financial loss.
Mr Justice McCracken said he was quite satisfied the totality of matters complained of against Mr Dooley constituted good and sufficient reason to terminate his employment.
He was entitled to six months' gross salary, amounting to £29,752. The judge accepted the company did not follow proper procedures in terminating the contract. He awarded £2,000 in general damages.
