NEGOTIATIONS are to be held on the future of four journalists at the Sunday Tribune who were to be let go following the appointment of a new editor.

The industrial dispute has been called off and the executive of the National of Journalists is to be asked to the instruction against NUJ members taking work at the newspaper.

The dispute arose last week when it became known that new editor, Mr Matt Cooper, planned to employ four new journalists in permanent posts, and at the same time review the positions of four journalists who had been employed as contributors or on contracts.

The NUJ instructed all members not to take up work at the newspaper and the national executive sanctioned industrial action.
