An industrial dispute at the Department of Education, Athlone, was threatening the assessment of the new Leaving Certificate Applied programme, the general secretary of the Association of Secondary Teachers Ireland (ASTI) said yesterday.
Mr Charlie Lennon called for a speedy resolution, saying the dispute, involving members of the Public Service Executive Union, had led to the postponement of task work assessment within the programme.
