Kilronan District Court on Inis Mór, the largest of the three Aran islands off the Galway coast, may be closed as part of a cost-cutting measure.

The court sits just four times a year and with the December and March schedules usually falling victim to poor weather, it is feared last Friday’s sitting could have been the last. A decision on the closure of a number of courthouses in Co Galway is expected in the coming months.
