Four divers were rescued off, Lambay Island, near Howth, early this morning after the engine of their inflatable boat broke down. The incident happened at about 10.15 last night.
Two of the divers, who were in the sea about 200 yards south-east of Lambay at the time, made their way to the island. A call was sent from the boat to the marine emergency services and Howth lifeboat went out. An Air Corps helicopter from Baldonnel and the Isle of Inishfree ferry also went to scene. All the divers, who are members of a Drogheda sub-aqua club, were eventually taken to safety by Howth lifeboat.
