London - Britain's Data Protection Registrar has launched an investigation into Mr Frank Dobson's use of Labour membership lists in his effort to become Labour's candidate in next year's election for London Mayor, Rachel Donnelly reports.

The Dobson camp has insisted its use of the lists to canvass its members in London directly is lawful and Mr Dobson's campaign manager, Labour MP Mr Nick Raynsford, said yesterday that he would fully co-operate with the investigation. The Labour Party has insisted that it did not issue the membership lists to Mr Dobson to boost his election campaign.
