Soccer:Bohemians will receive €80,000 less than they picked up last year if they retain their League of Ireland Premier Division title in 2010.

The defending champions stand to claim €200,000 from a total prize fund of €911,000 if they can make it three in a row by winning the newly branded Airticity League.

The entire fund, which is spread out of over the Premier and First Divisions, is down from €1,045,000 in these straitened times but is still 11 per cent more than the 2008 allocation, despite a 25 per cent wage reduction at clubs from 2009.

Second place in the Premier Division will earn a payout of €100,000 from the FAI, down from €130,000 last year.

The First Division winners will pick up €50,000, while the runner-up in the second tier will pick up €20,000.

Premier Division clubs will account for €700,000 of the total prize fund revealed by the FAI Board of Management today, with €161,000 being divvied-up between the First Division teams. An additional €50,000 from television money makes-up the €911,000 total.

Bohemians open the defence of their title against newly-promoted Sporting Fingal at Dalymount Park this evening and will be shown live on RTE2 (kick-off 7.35pm).
