Domino's Pizza UK and Ireland, the UK's largest pizza-delivery company, said sales increased almost 18 per cent in its fiscal fourth quarter as e-commerce orders surged and it opened more stores.
Sales in the period ended December 26th rose to £132.5 million from £112.4 million a year earlier, the Milton Keynes-based company said in a statement today. Same-store sales advanced 10 per cent.
"We have again finished the year with a like-for-like sales performance that is ahead of expectations," chief executive Chris Moore said in the statement. "Together with the improvements in our operational gearing, the company will deliver full year 2010 profits ahead of current City expectations."
Domino's Pizza, which has operated in the UK and Ireland for 25 years, boosted sales with the introduction in September of an application allowing customers using an i-Phone to order online. It plans to enable a similar application for Google's Android mobile operating system.
Sales for the fiscal year rose 19 per cent to £485.3 million.
The company now operates 665 stores, an increase of 9.4 per cent from a year earlier.
