Donegal 1-11, Derry 0-8:Donegal led from pillar to post at Clones to claim their first Ulster football crown since 1992 with a six-point victory over Derry, who now face a tough qualifier against Kildare in a bid to keep their summer alive.
Colm McFadden opened Donegal’s account after four minutes and they built up a three-point advantage after 20 minutes before Derry came back to level the game with three points in four minutes as the sides went in level (0-5 to 0-5) at the break.
The key moment of the game came just three minutes after the restart when Michael Murphy was obstructed by Derry goalkeeper Danny Devlin. The big full forward brushed himself down to hit the back of the net and points from Colm McFadden and Michael Hegarty put them five points clear (1-7 to 0-5).
James Kielt knocked over two quick points to reduce the deficit but Donegal pulled away again to wrap up a comfortable victory.
