A company in Co Donegal is to close with the loss of 34 jobs. Eargail Teoranta, a mail order catalogue company based in Falcarragh, confirmed it has gone into voluntary liquidation.
The Fine Gael TD for Donegal South West, Mr Dinny McGinley, called on the Government to implement emergency employment measures for the county following the announcement.
"This is a significant loss to the whole area and these jobs will be very hard to replace. The company has been based there for a number of years, providing good jobs, and was a vital source of employment.

"Donegal is already an unemployment blackspot with the highest level of unemployment in Ireland, and the closure of Errigal will only add to its economic woes. The county has a large number of skilled workers who simply cannot find jobs."
Mr McGinley noted the company had blamed the high cost of doing business in Ireland on its closure.
"The Government has a direct responsibility for this closure and for the economic situation in Donegal. By pursuing high-inflation economic policies for the last seven years it has driven one company after another out of business."
Mr McGinley asked the Tanaiste, Údarás na Gaeltachta and the Department of the Gaeltacht to take immediate action to tackle joblessness in Donegal.
He said a series of emergency measures, including a plan to prioritise infrastructure, needed to be put in place.
"The county urgently needs better road, rail and air links, and a proper broadband network, in order to attract industry into the area."
