The identity of the couple from Letterkenny, Co Donegal, who won €1.8 million in Wednesday's midweek national lottery draw are still unknown. They bought their ticket at Crossan's Border Stores, Killea, four miles from Derry.
Speaking at the shop yesterday, Ms Geraldine Crossan said rumours were rife in the area as to who the winners were.
"The lady phoned us on Wednesday night at about 11 o'clock and needless to say she was extremely excited. She said she and her husband bought the ticket on Tuesday evening.
"We got it all confirmed this morning, and it's up to the couple if they want to remain anonymous or not. They're a young couple with a family and they're certainly young enough to enjoy it.
"The phone hasn't stopped ringing all day between the media and locals."
