Pauric Breslin, who was in his mid-20s and from Ardara in the county, died after getting into difficulties in a swimming pool in the holiday resort he was staying in on Gran Canaria. It is believed he had gone on holidays with a group of friends and had just arrived in the sunshine islands on Saturday evening. Mr Breslin's parents, Patsy and Kathleen, are being aided by officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs. A spokesman for the department said: "The department's officials are providing consular assistance to his family through the embassy in Madrid."
