London - Detectives have identified all of the 58 Chinese illegal immigrants found dead in the back of a lorry at Dover, police said yesterday. Nearly three months after the deaths of the 54 young men and four young women, a team of investigators from Kent Police have determined their identity.
Det Supt Dennis McGookin, who headed the investigation, and two other detectives flew to China on September 4th to meet families in the Fujian province believed to be relatives of the deceased. They took DNA samples from the dead with them and compared these with blood taken from relatives.
