US stocks surged in early trade on Wall Street today, pushing the blue chip Dow Jones industrial average back above the key 10,000-point level for the first time since March 20th, as investors snapped up beaten down stocks.
Investors awaited Motorola's results, hoping for no more bad news from the world's second-largest mobile phone maker.
Motorola, which already warned twice that results will disappoint, saw its shares climb on the New York Stock Exchange, up 65 cents at $12.15.
The Dow jumped 152.12 points, or 1.55 per cent, to 9,997.27, after crossing over the psychologically important 10,000 mark. The last time the Dow closed above 10,000 was March 15th.
