SAILING - VOLVO OCEAN RACE: Ian Walker's decision to take a northerly route in the initial stages of Leg Four appears to be paying dividends as Green Dragon continues to make up ground on the leaders.
Walker opted to position his boat to the north of the rest of the fleet, a move that has seen Green Dragon rise from seventh to fourth in the last 24 hours as crews head for China.
PUMA continues to hold a narrow three mile lead over Telefonica Blue at the front of the pack with Ericsson Four, first in the overall standigs, in third.
All of the crews are braced for a difficult leg but so far Walker and his team remain upbeat.
“I never thought I would look forward to tacking and moving all the gear but we are yet to do any sort of manuoevre since the start so even a tack will be refreshing,” he explained.
“This is definately the calm before the impending storm.”
