A 14-year-old from Drogheda, Co Louth, beat more than 15,000 hopefuls at an open casting call to land a role in the next Harry Potter film.

Newcomer Evana Lynch will play Luna Lovegood, a Ravenclaw student who becomes an important ally of Harry's.

Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson reprise their roles as close-knit teen wizards Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

Britain's David Yates is making his debut as a Potter director, and among the other new faces in the cast will be Vera Drakestar Imelda Staunton as the new Defence Against The Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts School.

Warner Bros announced today that filming will begin next week of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.The film is expected to be released next year.
