Gardai found 19 ecstasy tablets on a Drogheda man on what he claimed was his first attempt to sell the drug, Dundalk Circuit Court has heard.

Ryan Dyas (21), with an address at Marian Park, pleaded guilty to possession of the tablets and possession with intent to supply at Old Hill, Drogheda on May 27th last year.

In a statement to gardai the accused said a Mr A had asked him to sell 20 tablets and said he would send anyone who wanted them to meet the accused at Handball Alley. The accused waited but no one came.

He later sold one tablet to man who said he would pay him the following Monday. He was to get £5 for every tablet sold at £15.

Garda Maureen McFadden of Drogheda agreed with Mr Roderick O'Hanlon, for the accused, that his client had attempted to dissociate himself from those involved with drugs in the last year.

Judge Esmonde Smith remanded the accused on continuing bail to the October sitting.
