Gardai found three guns and almost £90,000 in cash in a search of a house in the Cloverhill area of west Dublin yesterday, Catherine Cleary reports. The search started on Wednesday when two people were arrested in the house after gardai found quantities of heroin and cannabis.

A man and woman were arrested on Wednesday under drug-trafficking laws. They can be held for up to seven days. The heroin is estimated to have a street value of £300,000 and the cannabis resin is estimated to be worth around £100,000.

Gardai found two sawn-off shotguns and a .38 revolver as well as £89,000 in cash in both sterling and Irish pounds hidden at the property. A third man was arrested yesterday. The searches also resulted in a find of a large quantity of gold jewellery.

The three being held include a 50-year-old Ballyfermot man and his 28-year-old son. The woman being questioned is 24, according to gardai.
