Drugs worth over €700,000 have been seized in separate operations in Kilkenny and Dublin.
Gardaí searched a house in Gill Street in Dublin’s north inner city yesterday evening and seized 10kg of Methylethcathinone (MEC) with a street value of €350,000. MEC is a synthetic stimulant similar to amphetamine.
A man (44) and a 42-year-old woman were arrested. They are being held at Store Street Garda station under the provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice( Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
Meanwhile, gardai seized over 400 cannabis plants with an estimated street value, pending analysis, of €360,000 at a house in Ballymorris area of Mullinivat, Co Kilkenny early this morning.
Three men - one in his 20s, one 30s and one in his 40s - were arrested at the scene. They are being held at Thomastown Garda station.
