An international policing operation involving Belgium, Britain and Ireland has resulted in the recovery of over €5 million worth of drugs and the arrests of a number of individuals suspected of running an international drugs smuggling ring.
The haul included quantities of cannabis and cocaine.
Gardai from the Garda National Drugs Unit arrested 4 men - two Irishmen both in their 20s and two Englishmen, one in his 40s and one in his 50s - in connection with the investigation.
The men are being detained under the Criminal Justice Act at Ronanstown and Naas Garda stations.
Two trucks were also impounded as part of the operation which was six months in the planning.
Elsewhere, gardaí from Santry found thirty kilos of cannabis resin worth an estimated €200,000 during the search of a car on the Swords road this morning.
A 26 year-old man from Ballymun was arrested when the car he was driving was stopped by uniformed gardai shortly after 9am this morning.
A quantity of cash was also recovered.
