The western Indian state of Gujarat is planning to make drunks work as hospital cleaners.
It is the only Indian state where you need a permit to drink.

A senior police officer said: "We know of at least 2,000 cases on a daily basis, but they are not registered since we find it ridiculous to arrest decent people who are enjoying a social drink.
"Whenever there are indecent people creating nuisance, there are political compulsions and cases are hushed up."
Law minister Mr Ashok Bhatt told The Asian Age: "There is provision for a six-month jail term but most drunkards manage to avoid it.
"Drunkards should be subjected to community service for effective implementation of the Prohibition policy.
"They should be made to clean civil hospitals for the period that would have been their jail term."
