Bus company: Dualway last night expressed its sympathy with the family of the woman killed yesterday when the car in which she was a passenger was struck by one of its buses near the Bluebell Luas stop.

A spokesman said the company had no indication that anything like yesterday's events might happen. There was no ongoing row, dispute or disagreement between the firm and the driver who took the bus on the road yesterday morning without authorisation, the spokesman said.

Dualway's website says the firm offers a range of private bus-hire services to schools, sports organisations, tourists, colleges and the corporate world from its headquarters in Keatings Park, Rathcoole, Co Dublin.

Gardaí yesterday sealed off the depot, which is close to the Naas dual-carriageway.

The company also runs two scheduled private bus services for commuters.

These operate between Rathcoole and College Green, and between Newcastle and The Square, Tallaght.

Its fleet ranges from executive Mercedes mini-coaches to vintage double-deckers. Among the vehicles are 53-seater coaches, large closed and open-topped modern and vintage double-deckers, mini-coaches, minibuses and luxury cars and limousines.

The company requires its drivers to to be "fully turned out for each job in uniform".

It explains: "We believe that image goes hand-in-hand with service delivery."

Dualway is understood to have been among the firms providing transport for the Special Olympics when they were held in Ireland in 2003.

It states that it has a team of Fáilte Ireland-trained guides fluent in a variety of languages.

The Dualway group also says that it is the "proud" Irish operator of the worldwide sightseeing tour brands City Sightseeing and Gray Line.

It has been accredited by the Fáilte Ireland Service Excellence scheme, and says it has provided all members of its staff with Service Excellence training.

Among the vacancies currently advertised on its website are posts for a part-time receptionist, experienced full- and part-time coach and bus drivers, and a fleet mechanic.
