Car parking charges at Dublin airport are to increase by up to 50 cent from today.
The hourly charge for the short-term car parks adjacent to the airport terminal buildings is to rise by 30 cent to €3, while the daily charge at the airport's various long-term car parks rises to €8.50, an increase of 50 cent. The daily cost of leaving a car in the short-term facility remains unchanged at €30.
The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) said the increases are consistent with its policy of linking its short-term car parking rates with those of car parks in Dublin.
A spokeswoman for the DAA said some €10 million would be spent this year improving its parking service, and these charge increases would contribute to that fund.
"Investment at the short-term car parks will include a refurbishment programme to deliver brighter, cleaner multi-storey blocs with new enhanced safety features; the development of a new coach park and passenger set-down area; the provision of a new 'travelator' to deliver passengers from the car park atrium to the appropriate levels in the terminal building," she said.
The investment in the long-term car parks will include the provision of an extra 3,000 spaces at Harristown, she added.
