Passenger numbers at Dublin airport increased to more than 1.5 million during January.
The 7 per cent jump in passenger numbers represents an extra 3,500 people flying from the airport every day.
The number of passengers travelling on domestic routes rose by 15 per cent to almost 70,000 passengers. But the numbers to and from North America posted the biggest increase of 32 per cent, with over 106,000 passengers travelling on transatlantic routes in January.
Passenger numbers to/from continental Europe rose by 9 per cent with almost 750,000 travelling to European destinations.
UK traffic grew slightly with over 620,000 passengers making trips.
Passenger numbers to the Middle-East (Dubai and Abu Dhabi), northern Africa (Sharm El Sheik) and South Africa (Capetown) rose by 20 per cent with more than 24,000 passengers travelling to those destinations.
