The Dublin-based couple arrested north Wales in connection with a suspected terrorism plot in Britain have been freed without charge.
The couple - a 47-year-old man and 44-year-old woman - are naturalised Irish citizens with an address in Clondalkin.
They were arrested under the Terrorism Act at Holyhead Port 11 days ago, a day after UK police arrested 24 people in connection with an alleged plot to blow up passenger aircraft en route from Britain to the United States.
North Wales Police confirmed this afternoon the pair had been released.
It is understood the arrested man had been under surveillance by British police for some time. He was also known to gardaí, but sources said yesterday he was not regarded as posing any significant threat.
Immediately after the arrests in Wales, UK police contacted the Garda to request the search of a house in Clondalkin.
A Garda spokesman confirmed that "an action" was carried out on behalf of UK authorities, but it is understood to have revealed little of interest.
Details of their detention was only revealed by North Wales Police last Thursday when detectives successfully applied to a district judge at Holyhead Magistrates Court for a further five days to question the pair.
