An Irish man murdered in Chicago last week in an apparently motiveless attack is being buried in Dublin's Glencullen Cemetery today.
Barry Cunnane (27) was returning with a friend to his nearby apartment in the Belmont district of Chicago on the morning of Saturday, May 24th, when he was approached by two men and shot in the back of the head.
According to the friend, who witnessed the attack, one of the men turned around and said "What's up?" before shooting Mr Cunnane. Police say they do not believe the victim said anything to the two men.
Mr Cunnane, an aspiring actor who worked in sales for the American Medical Association, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have as yet made no arrests in relation to the murder.
The Ravenswood neighbourhood on Chicago's Northwest Side, where the shooting took place, is not an area known for violent crime.
