Dublin Bus today announced a reduction in a number of its fares in an apparent U-turn on last Monday's increase.
The new fares, which come into effect next Monday, are understood to have been prompted by a request from the Chairman to review recent price increases.
Last Monday the company had announced fare increases which it said averaged the 9 per cent increase granted by the Minister for Transport, Mr Seamus Brennan.
However, Dublin Bus was criticised from a number of quarters for raising several of the cash fares by more than the 9 per cent granted.
Under the new structure announced today, there is to be no increase in child fares, and a the majority of rates are to be reduced from their current levels.
