The Garda investigation into the shooting of a drug dealer in Dublin's south inner city almost five months ago is ongoing, an inquest heard today.

Wayne Zambra (21), from Lourdes Road, Maryland in Dublin 8, was shot dead last August in an attack believed to be connected to an ongoing feud between drugs gangs in Drimnagh and Crumlin.

Mr Zambra was attacked as he sat in his car with another man on Cameron Street around 1am on August 19th.

It is believed two armed men approached them and fired around five shots into the car. Mr Zambra, who was shot twice in the head, was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. The other man received a leg wound.

The inquest heard Dr Declan Gilsenan, the acting State Pathologist at the time, found Mr Zambra died from lacerations of the brain due to bullet wounds to the head.

Dublin City Coroner Dr Brian Farrell said: "On the basis of that I would have thought Wayne would have died instantaneously and if he didn't he would have went unconscious immediately."

Insp Kevin Gralton, from Kevin Street Garda Station, told the Dublin City Coroner's Court the killing was still under investigation. He asked for the inquest to be adjourned as the inquiry continued.

The inquest was adjourned until Monday, July 9th.
