Dublin's biggest festival for gays, lesbians and bisexuals started yesterday and continues until next weekend. The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Mr John Stafford, will meet the festival's organising committee next Tuesday at the Mansion House.

The "Pride Parade" takes place next Saturday, assembling at 2 p.m. at the Garden of Remembrance. The second-ever international "Dyke March" takes place next Friday at 7.30 p.m., assembling at Parnell Square.

Ireland's first Queer Debs Ball will be held in the Russell Court Hotel in Harcourt Street on Monday at 8 p.m. An exhibition of gay and lesbian art will show at the RHA Gallery from Tuesday to July 5th. A gay ceili also takes place on Tuesday at 9 p.m. in the Russell Court Hotel.

Meanwhile, members of the Irish Lesbian and Gay Organisation in New York will next Sunday host an open discussion of, among other things, their experience of being banned from the New York St Patrick's day parade.
