A conference aimed at finding the most productive and effective ways of working towards gender equality is taking place in Dublin today.

The conference, entitled Gender Mainstreaming - Partnership in Practice, will examine approaches to the promotion of gender equality through partnership between statutory, community and voluntary organisations.

Gender Mainstreaming is the inclusion of gender-equality perspective in the development, implementation and evaluation of mainstream policies. Mainstreaming is a requirement for all policies and programmes funded under the Irish National Development Plan.

Gender mainstreaming is a requirement for all policies and programmes funded under the Irish National Development Plan 2000-2006 (NDP). The NDP Gender Equality Unit advises and supports NDP policy makers and implementing bodies in carrying out this work.
