Dublin man dies after alleged assault

A man who was the victim of an alleged assault in Dublin earlier this month has died in hospital.

A man who was the victim of an alleged assault in Dublin earlier this month has died in hospital.

David Rooney (35) of Durrow Road, Crumlin in Dublin was taken to hospital after the alleged incident on Clonmacnoise Road in Crumlin on July 2nd.

He died at St James' Hospital last night.

A post mortem examination is due to take place tomorrow to establish the exact cause of death.

A garda spokesperson said the investigation into the initial incident is ongoing.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information or who may have been in the Sundrive Road/Clonmacnoise Road area of Crumlin on July 2nd between 8.30pm and 8.45pm to contact them at Sundrive Road Garda Station on 01 666 6600.
