A Former security guard was yesterday sentenced at the Central Criminal Court to 12 years in prison for the manslaughter of his Danish wife.

Joseph Kinsella (47), of Blanchardstown, Dublin, had been found guilty last March of the manslaughter of 45year-old Ms Bente Carroll at their home on May 26th, 1999. Det Insp John Mulligan of Blanchardstown Garda station told the court Kinsella had 13 previous convictions, including one for rape.

After being sentenced Kinsella rose from his seat and declared that he did not want to appeal, that he "must be strung up".

Previously, the court heard that Kinsella killed his wife after a two-day drinking spree. Mr Justice Carney ordered that the sentence begin from the date of his arrest, May 31st, 1999.
