Ireland's benchmark stock index, the Iseq Index, rose 0.52 per cent at 8.05am.
The index of 63 companies traded on the Irish Stock Exchange rose 26.51 to 5,101.87. Among the stocks in the index, eight rose, ten fell and 46 were unchanged.
Gains in the Index were led by Elan, Allied Irish Banks and Ryanair.
