1997: FF 38.65%; FG 18.98%; Lab 13.64%; GP 13.64%; PD 3.48 %; SP 7.22%; CS 1.62%; Others 2.77 %.Outgoing TDs: GV Wright (FF); Nora Owen (FG); Sean Ryan (Lab); Trevor Sargent (GP).
The early electronic voting results from Dublin North could offer the first signs that a Fianna Fáil majority is on. A return to FF of Ray Burke's old seat by either FF's Sen Jim Glennon or Micheal Kennedy - at the expense, possibly, of former Fine Gael deputy leader Nora Owen - could signal a significant national swing to FF. Owen's chances depend on transfers from her running-mate, Cathal Boland, and his first-preference vote will need to be around the 3,000 mark. Green Party leader Trevor Sargent's share of the vote could also point to Green gains elsewhere in today's counts.
