Dublin sports paper planned

Dublin is to have its own sports newspaper from the end of this month

Dublin is to have its own sports newspaper from the end of this month. Dublin Sport is to be launched on September 24th and will be published every Wednesday. According to Mr Larry O'Reilly, one of those involved in the project, the publication will act in partnership with sports associations and participants. It will focus particularly on women in sport, school sports and young people's sports clubs. It will also report on minority sports.

Dublin Sport plans to provide a weekly results service for most of the leagues taking place in Dublin. With at least 100 sports and leisure associations catering for the sporting needs of Dublin's growing population, Dublin Sport will give these clubs coverage.

The newspaper will be an 18page tabloid, with eight colour pages. It will be available in 600 newsagents and will cost 60p.

It will have regular coverage of schoolboys' soccer, schools' leagues, and women's soccer. It will offer similar coverage to Gaelic games, as well as basketball, hockey, rowing, boxing, squash, and pitch and putt.
