Hundreds of hospital managers from across Europe are attending a conference in Dublin today to explore the role the EU plays in healthcare.

Experts will be attending the Congress of the European Association of Hospital Managers, which is being held in Ireland for the first time.

International speakers from healthcare management and academic institutions, including David Byrne, the former EU commissioner for health, will address over 500 healthcare executives at the conference which takes place in Trinity College today and tomorrow.

Issues discussed will include human resource challenges in hospitals, quality management, safety in health care and hospital governance in Europe.

The institute said the delegations will be focusing on the role the EU plays in healthcare and the actions it should be taking.
