Dublin has confirmed its place as the fastest growing urban tourist destination in Europe, but the private sector has not grasped all the opportunities being created, according to the 1995 report of Dublin Tourism.
The city has experienced a 40 per cent increase in visitor numbers in the past two years, the report says, and now has more bednights booked than Copenhagen, Amsterdam or Edinburgh.
The chief executive of Dublin Tourism, Mr Frank Magee, said the increase had been won at the expense of the other European cities.
