Dublin have emphatically brushed aside Westmeath in their Leinster Senior Hurling Championship preliminary round two clash to set up a meeting with Laois after the midlanders were equally as convincing against Carlow in the corresponding fixture.

The Parnell Park crowd was treated to a goal feast from their side, the earliest coming after just 20 seconds through Kevin Flynn.

Conall Keeney's strike doubled the lead three and half minutes later and a third from Damien Russell gave Dublin a dream start.

To their credit Westmeath kept picking off points and had at one stage whittled that lead down to two as Dublin struggled to stick the sliotar over the bar.

But Marty Morris' side soon found their range to quash any thoughts of a fightback and win by 4-17 to 0-13.

Laois' performance in their encounter with Carlow was equally emphatic as they left themselves with 17 points to spare, winning by 5-15 to 1-10.
