A Co Louth man was remanded in custody until Friday by the Special Criminal Court in Dublin yesterday. Liam Campbell (38), of Upper Faughart, Dundalk, was charged last week with membership of an illegal organisation styling itself the IRA on October 3rd last.
Yesterday Mr Campbell's counsel, Mr Stephen McCann BL, said they were not ready to proceed with a bail application. Prosecuting counsel Mr George Birmingham SC said the matter could be dealt with very quickly and the prosecution was anxious to have an early trial.
Mr Campbell was remanded in custody until Friday when a bail application on his behalf will be heard.
