THE STATE is seeking to have Limerick brothers Wayne and John Dundon sent forward for trial to the Special Criminal Court on charges of threatening to kill members of another family, a court has been told.
Wayne Dundon (33), Lenihan Avenue, Limerick, appeared at Limerick District Court yesterday where he faced four new charges.
He was charged in April with threatening to kill a man at an address on Hyde Road in Limerick on September 30th, 2010.
He was further charged with threatening to kill another man at Hyde Avenue on the same date, with threatening to kill a woman and her two children at Hyde Road on March 25th and with two counts of intimidating witnesses at Hyde Road, on the same date.
Garda Christine Bergin gave evidence of arresting and formally charging Mr Dundon with the new charges at Limerick District Court yesterday and said he made no reply to the charges.
John Dundon (29), Hyde Avenue, Limerick, appeared before the court via video link. He is charged with threatening to kill a mother and daughter at Hyde Road on April 3rd-4th last.
State Solicitor Michael Murray told Judge Eamon O’Brien that directions had been received from the Director of Public Prosecutions on the charges.
He said there would be an application to have John and Wayne Dundon returned for trial to the Special Criminal Court.
Mr Murray requested that John Dundon be remanded in custody for one week to Cloverhill Prison for service of the book of evidence next week.
He asked that Wayne Dundon be remanded in custody to the Midlands Prison for one week and said he would be hoping to serve the book of evidence next week.
The judge remanded both brothers in custody to appear in person at Limerick District Court on June 16th.
